Park City High School volleyball delivered a dominant, program-wide performance on Thursday, Oct. 1, securing a four-match sweep over Cottonwood High School with straight-set victories across all levels.
The Sophomore squad set the tone for the evening, overpowering Cottonwood with decisive set scores of 25–9 and 25–6. Despite several players adjusting to unfamiliar positions—including Piper Hendry—the Miners executed seamlessly. Laney Smith anchored the defense at the net with key blocks, while Rose Allen capitalized on offense with a series of powerful kills. The Freshman team kept the momentum going behind steady leadership from captains Andi Stewart and Electra Antonopoulos. Despite brief communication lapses early in the match, the team quickly adjusted, relying on clutch defensive saves to seal a rapid victory.
The Junior Varsity squad faced the night's earliest test, falling behind in the opening frame before rallying for a 25–21 win. Exceptional backline passing from liberos Hayden Phillips, Lauren Joiner, and Naomi Greenwood stabilized the defense, allowing middle blocker Pearl Murray to deliver key kills down the stretch to pull away for the win.
Varsity capped off the night with a commanding three-set victory. Elle Hardy dominated behind the service line, going 19-for-19 on serves with five aces. Setter Aislyn Smith ran a fluid offense off accurate passes from Sage Ruzek, consistently creating prime attacking opportunities for her hitters even on out-of-system plays. With the four-match sweep in the books, all four PCHS teams look ahead to the final stretch of the season with six matches remaining.
